Dr Khurmi had clearly read up patient notes before the first meeting, which was very reassuring. He gave far more time to my son than I would have expected, and listened well, asking insightful and pertinent questions, working with my son to come to a joint understanding of the root cause of his mental health problems. He worked jointly with my son and myself, to come to a shared agreement regarding appropriate medication and therapy. The way Dr Khurmi treated me and my son was as equal partners in a plan going forwards. He also advised that, once discharged, we could contact the Home Treatment Team again should we need to. Unfortunately, it transpired that the service my son was referred to for therapy would not accept him onto their waiting list, but no reason was given. We are following up on guidance given re getting this therapy privately. We do this reluctantly, as we feel everyone should be able to access the treatment they need without having to pay; people who cannot scrape together the funds for private treatment should not have to suffer for longer because of this. However, this is an issue for government to sort out.

Dr Khurmi was so compassionate at a time I didn’t know where to turn. It was so hard to get any help for my mental health until I met Dr Khurmi. He listened, tried different medications he took the time needed and phoned me weekly to check my progress. he gave me ways to manage my anxiety and gave me hope. I’m very grateful to have been under his care.

I don't know what to say really apart from that he listened to everything I said, explained alot of things to me about my mental health and gave it a diagnosis, without Dr khurmi help I know I would be in a more difficult and challenging place.

I would like to express my gratitude to consultant psychiatrist Dr Khurmi who is not only equipped with the best medical knowledge but also possess an excellent communication skills.Dr Khurmi restored my beliefs in a psychiatrist who is compassionate, caring with an active listening abilities. From my point of view the way I can best describe Dr Khurmi is he guided me to the light at the end of the tunnel along side me during my journey during the times that I felt dying is the only option to end my miserable life. The treatment Dr Khurmi offered me exceeded my expectations from him in his field of psychiatry. Therefore, I will end this review to say thank you Dr Khurmi from the depths of my heart.
